planted and grown at sod farms in bordering states. Sod is grown on

delivery by trucking to North Dakota, the sod has to be quickly

- Seeding:
Johnson Landscaping uses many different types of grass mix blends. Blue grasses, creeping red fescue, & rye grass are most commonly used for residential projects. Commercial projects require specific types of blends due to project requirements, soil, area or region and other determining factors. Fertilizer application for residential projects consists of a mixture of 25-15-8-5. Application of fertilizer varies due to specifications & plans. NO WEED killer should be used on new grass for the first year.

|
- Straw Mulching:
Straw mulching is utilized to retain moisture & provide erosion control on Commercial projects. Federal/State DOT projects and other government projects continually ask for a dual application when drawings & specs are written. That application of both straw mulching and seeding. The mulch consists of a mixture of barley, wheat, and/or oat straw. Round hard-core bales purchased are approximately 800-1000 lbs
each in weight.
|
|
- Hydro-turf:
Johnson Landscaping uses wood fiber mulch when hydro-turfing a project. The wood cellulose fiber, which retains water to keep grass moist resulting in a quicker and thicker grass strand. This fiber helps prevent
wind and water erosion. It provides an absorptive mat to protect the young seedlings. The mulch fibers both decompose and add nourishment to the soil. Mulch fibers can be washed off sidewalks, vehicles, buildings, and homes with water. Normal application is 2000 pounds per acre. Slope areas require a tackifier additive in
the mulch to keep the material in tact. Hydro-turf application can be utilized on both commercial and residential projects.

- Silt Fence:
Silt fence is designed specifically to reduce soil sediment run off from, or into, protected areas. They function in a manner similar to a sedimentation basin in which water is allowed to filter through the fabric while suspended soil particles settle to the ground. This restricts the loss of costly soil from the site while permitting the water to drain efficiently. Fabrics are made of woven polypropylene yards, which have been treated to resist degradation caused by exposure to sunlight.
